ABOUT

Heather Kanazawa was born and raised in Edinburg Pennsylvania, USA.  As a child, she was always creating- drawing, painting, and sculpting.  It was only natural that she majored in art in college, attending Edinboro University and earning a BFA in Painting in 2007 and then an MA in Art Education in 2011. She has exhibited her work locally, regionally, and internationally. She has taught at various arts centers and colleges, including Jamestown Community College, Jamestown, NY.

In her latest paintings, she is investigating the essence of memory and moments in time. Since moving to the Blue Ridge Mountains from Pennsylvania, in August, she has been inspired by the scenery and beautiful landscapes of North Carolina.  She combines multiple photographs in her paintings, and uses memory and intuitive mark making in her painting process.   She is inspired by the ever-changing beauty of the mountains and aims to capture emotion in her works through landscape.
